Episode 014: Special Guest Catherine Hansen | Theory After Hours | The Theory Hardware Podcast
Born and raised in Prince George, Catherine comes with a strong media background and is a national award winning broadcaster. After graduating Duchess Park secondary, she attended CNC for one year in the University Transfer Program. Following that she attended and graduated from Sheridan College’s Music Theatre Program – a passion that continues today as she is a teacher at Judy Russell’s Dance Studio and participates often in local theatre productions as well as performing with local musicians and bands. Her most recent role was in ‘Cabaret’ as Fraulein Schneider. Over the past years she has performed in ‘Mary Poppins’, ‘Les Miserables’, ‘Chicago’ and more. In 2000 graduated from BCIT’s Broadcast Journalism program. After a short job in Williams Lake at CKWL radio, Catherine transitioned back to Prince George, where she worked at CJCI (now Vista Radio) and then moved to CKPG where she has been for the past 17 years. During her time at CKPG Catherine has held every job in the newsroom from reporter to anchor to producer, leading and sharing her knowledge with others. Catherine is heavily involved in the community from her yearly volunteerism with the Festival of Trees and the local dance festival to helping organize the Red Cross Evening in Chocolate. Catherine is an RTDNA Dave Rogers national award winner, and three time provincial winner. She has been a volunteer member of UBC’s medical program interview panel for several years, and is an avid runner, dog walker and cyclist.
